Zelda: Congratulations on the 37th Anniversary, New Release in May

The Hyrule Fantasy: The Legend of Zelda (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説) is a video game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, developed by Nintendo and first released on 21st February 1986.This 21st February will be the 37th anniversary of the first Zelda game.

It is set in the fantasy land of Hyrule and players on an elf-like boy named Link, who aims to collect the eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom in order to rescue Princess Zelda to rescue Princess Celda from the villainous Ganon.

Zelda: Congratulations on the 37th Anniversary, New Release in May

It was the first game in the Legend of Zelda series and was first released in Japan for the Famicom Disk System. The Legend of Zelda sold over 6.5 million copies. The game has been on many lists of the greatest or most influential games of all time and is regarded as a pioneer in the soul of Action Role Playing Game.

The series is set in a fictional fantasy world, with the adventures of the protagonist, Link, running through the entire series.

Although the setting has jumped, the action games, combined with a large proportion of puzzle elements, a unique world view and a large production budget, have made the series one of Nintendo's most famous around the world.

Historic Significance

As the first full-fledged ARPG in the genre, the game combined action and collecting in a well-presented way, and the exploration of the world, the real-time combat, the prop puzzles, and the design of the additional mile mode after passing the game were groundbreaking at the time and have been used by countless other games since. It made a significant contribution to the industry in at least three ways.

From gameplay to storyline

This is where The Legend of Zelda differs most radically from its various predecessors. Instead of aiming for a high score and a place on the leaderboard, for the first time, The Legend of Zelda does away with the concept of a mere score.

While the plot was still largely the same as Mario's brave man defeating the demon king to save the princess, it was expanded to a great extent by the gameplay compared to Mario, and Nintendo incorporated both monsters and characters into a fantasy world of swords and magic, which allowed for a greater scope to play with the plot. In fact, the first entry laid down a largely well-developed worldview for the later Legend of Zelda.

Saving progress

The Legend of Zelda was also the first home console game to have the ability to save progress and read archives. Prior to this, users had to play an uninterrupted round of the game at once. To achieve a high score, many players would play for long stretches of time at a time to the point of staying up all night, and once interrupted, they would have to start all over again the next time. For the first time, The Legend of Zelda allows users to save their progress and continue playing from the saved location the next time.

Customize the main character's name

Although it may seem unobtrusive now, another major innovation of The Legend of Zelda is that it allows players to customise the name of the main character. This effectively pushed players to put themselves into the game and immerse themselves in every story, every episode and every achievement. Later, as technology advanced, games began to allow players to customise everything from the character's clothing to his or her hair, in addition to his or her name. It all started with the original Legend of Zelda in 1986.

New Release Coming Soon

At the Nintendo Direct on 13th September 2022, it was announced that the new game would be released on 12th May 2023, and the title of the game Tears of the Kingdom. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
