Tim Cook,Jony Ive and Laurene Powell Jobs reflect on Steve Jobs' life at Code Conference

Apple CEO Tim Cook, former Apple design director Ivey and Emerson Collective founder Laurenna Powell Jobs recently attended Kara Swisher's final appearance at the Code Conference. They discussed Steve Jobs and his impact on technology, culture and beyond at the event.

In response to a question from Swisher about how they thought Steve Jobs would view the current state of the world, Powell Jobs did not think he would be happy with the polarisation that is increasingly dominating the discourse.

"I would say not only polarisation, not only people really clashing in their families, in their communities and in our country, but just the fact that he loved our country so much.
He (Steve Jobs) loved California very much, he loved our country. He loved the idea of America. He loved what it allowed individuals and communities to be. He loved the uncertainty of it. He loved the freedom of the individual, but he also loved the connection and responsibility to each other.

It was very important to him to be able to offer something back to the human experience, and I don't think he would have been silent about that."

And on the subject of user privacy, Cook reflected on how Steve Jobs set the standard for Apple by:

"Steve really ingrained the importance of privacy in the company early on, and it's grown over time, year by year. I think he spoke about privacy at the D8 conference, I think in 2010, and he put it in such eloquent and simple terms.
It means asking people for their consent, repeatedly asking them for their consent, and that has always been at the heart of how we look at privacy."
